I was there with a group of about 40. The food was excellent, however the service was very slow. We were there for more than 20 minutes before bread was brought to the table, and then we had to ask to have it refilled. We were even offerred the dessert menu before we received our meals! The food was excellent however, and the portions were very large. We weren't in a rush or anything, just really hungry, so waiting an hour for our meals seemed a bit much, especially since we had a small child with us. Our waitress knew the menu well and made excellent suggestions. The prices were fair considering how much food is on the plate. I am a big eater and I took half my meal home, so in reality, it was only $10 for an excellent dinner.

I will suggest this restaurant to friends and family, but I'll also warn them not to be in a hurry.

We went to Paliotti's on a Tuesday night at 830 pm so to miss the crowds...we were one of about 5 couples in the restaurant. The service is TERRIBLE!! One of the worst we have ever experienced actually. We ordered 4 things one glass of white wine (they didn't have 2 of the 5 choices), one glass of red wine which the waiter forgot to bring my husband until we reminded him that I was drinking my wine alone, a ceaser salad which the waiter never brought to us but charged us for it on the final bill, and a pizza to share. The pizza was cold and too full of cheese that the taste was masked++.
Overall one of the worst dining experiences we have ever had and we won't be going back. They need an interior decorator to help lower the lights as they are too high, and bring some more love in decor than plastic plants. It needs a professional decorator touch, and better trained staff.

The service at this restaurant is embarassing trained monkeys could be more courteous and not f*ck up half as much. It took 45 minutes for a SMALL STARTER salad to arrive. On top of that, it had been under the heat lamp (bad cook or slow waitress? you decide) and was partially wilted by the time it came out.

I'm assuming the kitchen staff gets called in from home when orders are placed one at a time? There were maybe 6 tables in the restaurant. The only excuse I can see for the time lapse is the waitress/cook/bartender/owner/accountant/general manager are all the same person! We literally watched the sky change color in the time it took to get our meal. I asked for a rare steak and got a medium.

The decor is beautiful and the place has amazing potential to be the restaurant in abbotsford with a line up. However, as it stands, the owner should be embarrassed with his staff. They didn't even have a recommended dish and didn't know anything about the menu. Preorder your meal 24 hours in advance so the kitchen and wait staff get the heads up that more than one person is ordering at a time. I sincerely believe they need that amount of time. Totally pathetic, I will never go back.

My wife and I tried out Paliotti's restaurant several months ago and had a very mixed experience. The food was some of the best we've tasted, but the service was probably the worst we've ever experienced. After waiting for about 45 minutes since ordering, we tried to catch our waitress's eye to ask when the food would arrive, but she kept avoiding us. After about ten minutes of this, I virtually had to stand up in the middle of the aisle to catch her before she went by. We ended up getting our meal about 10 minutes after that. The food was fantastic. During the meal, we received very poor service as well. When we were ready to leave and requested that the leftovers be packaged up for us (they are large servings), the girl who brought the packaged food back out walked past and dropped the bag on the table without saying anything. Maybe the restaurant was short-staffed? Whatever the reason, the service was inexcusible and we will not be going back.

Our waitor was adequate. We had to ask for drinks and were not offered any prior to that. Even for refills and desert menus etc. The food orders came and they were incorrect. The food tasted great, however was not what we had ordered. We found the billing price to be high for the level of the restaurant. When we left I mentioned to the waitress that the food orders were wrong, and that she may want to mention it to the kitchen staff. Her response was, The owners are actually cooking, so what you get is what you get. I was not impressed by this, and next time feel we will rather visit the Keg or Old Spaghetti Factory, as the pricing, food and service are far superior.

My wife and I have been to Paliotti's twice. We had a great time. The food was excellent and the service was great with attentive servers. One of our evenings was on a Friday and it was very busy, when customers see that the restaurent is full then they should expect that it will take a bit more time for the orders to come. We waited about 45/50 minutes for our mains and have no problem with that. We are going back again with friends from Seattle next weekend and we continue to recommend this establishment. Everyone that we have sent positively enjoyed their evening.

My wife and I tried out Paliotti's for the first time tonight. It was date night, no kids, so we thought we'd try it out. Let's just say we were very impressed, and we will absolutely be coming back! Our server was really on the ball, we didn't wait for a thing, we never had to ask for anything, she would ask if we wanted things before it'd even crossed our minds, the moment you needed something, she was just there! So, service was fantastic! We had foccacia bread while we were waiting for the main course, very good, and hot out of the oven with oil and vinegar. Now the food, you must try it, I don't think I'm going to be able to eat pasta in any other restaurant without comparing it to Paliotti's! I'm rating Paliotti's as excellent, and we're coming back with friends next week!

I was out on a Wednesday evening with a group of friends.... service was great, food was great! Thanks Margaret

I was there on Dec 4th with a group of 13 women. The service was slow but we were warned by some who went there before.
The reason, I am writing is that when I returned home after the evening, I felt sick and soon after was sick. This lasted through the night and into the next day. I did not eat anything previous to this dinner so I assume it was the meal. Just thought I should pass this on. Anything you can do about this?

I was in for dinner on Sunday evening, our food was quite good. But I will say the service was a little slow. I would say perhaps they are short staffed in the kitchen. I don't like to be rushed when I go out for dinner, but after the appetizers the main courses did seem to take a bit long. I also think our server could benefit from actually having read the menu. An answer if of

Was in to Paliotti's a few days ago. Had cajun prawn appy, medium hot and very good! Our server was very attentive, they were out of the wine we ordered, but she was quick to bring us a taster of another very good house wine. Had seafood penne for main course, and my wife had the chicken borsetti's. Both very tasty, will definitely be back to try out the rest of the huge menu!

Here a couple of weekends ago visiting family and decided to treat them to dinner. Wish'd I didn't! Starting on a postive, our server was excellent and could not be faulted, I actually felt sorry for her having to deal with dozens of customers complaining about the (extremely slow) service. This was a Friday night and we were lucky to get a table but excuses like it's the manager's night off just don't cut it. We were brought bread and salads as an appeasement for the lack of dinner and wine was discounted. However, we were so tired by the time dinner arrived we got it to go. Food was very good the next day! The biggest problem here is that it seems that the most complaint is the slow service so WHY doesn't management fix it?? Surely this would be better for business and customers alike. Great food and servers but VERY poor service as far as waiting times are concerned.

I have been to Paliottis many, many times, and never had a problem! The food and service have always been excellent. We usually wait half an hour to 45 minutes for our main course, but we have bread and an appetizer while we're waiting, and we're out to have a good time and enjoy ourselves, so we don't mind. My husband and I like that we're not rushed. I'm sure that all of you other people have valid complaints, but it sure is refreshing to see the other side of the coin (regarding that server's response). I was a server through college, so I know where she's coming from! Anyway, don't let a few naysayers keep you from trying out Paliottis, we've been there many times and it's always been a good experience.

Wow where do I begin about Paliotti's.
We waited 1 hour for an appitizer. We ordered the artichoke and crab dip. The cheese on top was so hard we had to peal it away and the inside dip had mushrooms in it. When mushrooms are cooked they lose all the water and that is what we had. Watery dip.Sent that back
I ordered a martini. Oh no olives. 10 minutes for the olives to come. Martini half gone.
Main courses. Seafood lasagna. Cut into the baked lasagna and and it was so watery they could have called it lobster bisque. Sent that back. My wife got the portabella stuffed ravioli and if you don't stir your pasta while cooking it will stick together in a rubbery mass. Guess how are were served to us We ate what raviolis that were not stuck together and they were excellent, but half the meal was not edible
We got our bill and the ravioli was charged to us. They eventually relented and comped our meal. I still had to pay for the drinks. Classless place. Manager should have bought our drinks too. I didn't even get a gift certificate. The food was very bad but our server was very nice and apologetic. The manager need training in customer service.
If I was the owner and read the reply that the server above gave to a negative review I would can her ass. What kind of place condones that behaviour. The meal was bad. The service was bad. Do better next time and accept the facts.

2007-09-29 09:02:20

Food is excellent, service is slow from the minute you walk in. Once you get to order them, the drinks don't take to long. Main course takes a long time, but it's worth it. If you are in a hurry, go somewhere else. We were there on a weeknight, with the restaurant half full.

2007-09-28 18:58:31

WOW. In response to the review on August 11, I was your blonde server.

I remember you and your wife very well. You were both extremely rude people who did not know how to smile or even say thank you. I may have taken some time to take your drink order, but I very much doubt that it was 15 minutes.

People tend to exagerate when they complain! It probably took another 5 minutes for your drinks to get to your table, again 15 minutes is simply ridiculous. I took your order, brought you bread, and then brought your salads.

A few minutes later, you informed me there was a hair in your salad. I didn't inspect your salad for hairs, of course I took you at your word, I simply apologized and attempted to remedy the situation. Perhaps you mistook this for indifference? I certainly DID NOT ask you if you were still going to eat it. Perhaps you weren't listening when I spoke to you (I wouldn't be suprised), but I asked you several times if I could bring you a NEW salad. You refused, I took the salad away, and once into the dish area, I looked for the offensive hair. I found it, and it was BLACK. Hmmm, you and your wife had black hair. Makes me wonder how observant you really are??

You're absolutely right, your dinner most likely did take an hour. You came at a peak time on a weekend evening, and sometimes that happens. We constantly apologize about that, however, to prepare each entree as it is ordered, and not have a fast food line up of buckets of slop, takes time. If you don't want to take time to enjoy an evening out, go to McDonalds.

Regarding having the wrong entree delivered to your table, don't you think it would be prudent to let your server know? How can anyone attempt to solve a problem that they aren't aware exists? Perhaps you're exagerating about that too?

I'll agree with you that the manager did take forever to get to your table. But I did let you know that she was going to be a few minutes, as she wanted you to be able to eat your dinner while it was still hot, and not let it get cold while talking to her. Which you did.

As for what was said between you and the manager, I have no idea. If ever you get the opportunity to read this, then you'll know that I think you have very poor manners and quite a sour public persona. We servers do not need or want you to grace us with your presence, stay home for dinner!!

2007-08-11 08:09:19

the food was so so. the service was terrible and very slow, it took them 15 min. to ask for a drink and another 15 min to get us a drink, our salads came quick and the rest of the dinner never came for an hour and it was wrong order, i also got a hair in my salad which i suspect belonged to the blond waitress that we had, she did not seem to concerned and asked if i was still going to eat it, when i finally asked for the manager it took her for ever to come to us and then she just made lame excuses about the lack of service, i think my dinner should have been free after the problems but the manager only offered me a gift certificate for $10. overall we were there for a wasteful 2 hours. i will never go back.
